Senior Python Engineer

Alongside is a Portuguese company that partners with international organizations to build and scale exceptional tech teams.

We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join a project in the retail sector.

We are looking for a highly experienced engineer with a strong Python background and solid knowledge of infrastructure and cloud environments. This is a Principal-level position requiring strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Terraform.

Responsabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions using Python.
• Build and maintain APIs using FastAPI.
• Take technical ownership of complex solutions, contributing to architectural and engineering decisions.
• Work closely with cloud infrastructure running on Microsoft Azure.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Contribute to the scalability, reliability, and performance of production systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Apply software engineering best practices and contribute to high technical standards across the project.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional experience as a Python Engineer.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong experience developing APIs with FastAPI.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, containerization, and modern software architecture.
• Ability to operate at Principal Engineer level, taking ownership of complex technical decisions and solutions.
• Good understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Good level of English, both written and spoken.
