AlphaHire is a United States recruiting agency focused on the construction and skilled-trades labour market, placing superintendents, project managers, estimators and engineers with contractors nationwide. It works for commercial, residential and industrial builders in metros from Boston and Memphis to Houston, Naples and Nashville, running searches on behalf of client firms rather than employing the placed staff itself. The agency also publishes labour-market analysis through its Workforce Intelligence Lab, which tracks compensation trends, contractor growth and workforce scarcity across the construction industry.

AlphaGov is seeking a Municipal / Public Utility Compensation Specialist for project-based compensation and classification work with cities, counties, public utilities, water/wastewater districts, electric utilities, and similar special districts.

You will support market surveys, classification reviews, total-compensation comparisons, and pay-plan recommendations in utility and municipal operating environments. Ideal candidates have completed studies for utilities or special districts, not only general government HR.

What you'll do:

- Conduct and support compensation and classification studies for municipal and utility employers

- Analyze craft, technical, operator, professional, and management roles common to utilities and public works

- Build peer sets that include utilities, special districts, and comparable municipal operations

- Evaluate premiums, certifications, shift differentials, and total compensation practices

- Support salary structure, range, and implementation recommendations

- Prepare clear reports and board/executive presentations

- Contribute utility-sector technical content to AlphaGov proposals

Requirements

  • Required:
  • - 5+ years compensation/classification consulting or utility HR compensation work
  • - Direct experience with public utilities, water/wastewater, electric, or special-district compensation studies (or equivalent municipal public-works heavy studies)
  • - Strong analytical and report-writing skills
  • - Ability to explain technical findings to nontechnical audiences

Nice to have: electric utility peer surveys; water district studies; FLSA for field/operations roles
