About the role

Are you passionate about helping people recover from injury and achieve a safe, sustainable return to work?

As a Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator, you'll play an important role in supporting injured workers throughout their recovery journey while partnering with employers to create positive outcomes for workers and businesses alike.

You'll coordinate return to work programs, identify suitable duties and work collaboratively with employers, treating practitioners and other stakeholders to overcome barriers and facilitate successful recovery at work.

Through your work, you'll help to:

  • Support safe and sustainable returns to work.
  • Minimise the impact of workplace injuries and lost time on businesses.
  • Help employers manage workers compensation claims and meet their legislative obligations.

What you'll be doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating early intervention activities following an initial notification or referral.
  • Supporting workers throughout their recovery and return to work journey.
  • Partnering with employers to identify suitable duties and develop graded return to work plans in line with medical recommendations.
  • Preparing, monitoring and reviewing recovery at work plans.
  • Liaising with treating practitioners, employers, insurers and other key stakeholders.
  • Implementing and maintaining workplace return to work programs.
  • Attending case conferences and contributing to effective claim management strategies.
  • Identifying barriers to recovery and developing practical strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Educating employers on their legislative and compliance responsibilities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvements in policies, processes and systems.
  • Managing wage reimbursement processes, billing, reporting and associated administration as required.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who combines a genuine passion for helping people with strong coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A Return to Work Coordinator certification or similar qualification.
  • At least six months' experience in workplace rehabilitation, return to work coordination or a related field, with one to two or more years' experience highly regarded.
  • Experience as a Rehabilitation Consultant or in a similar role will be particularly valuable.
  • An understanding of injury management principles and return to work practices.
  • Knowledge of workers compensation legislation and regulations, highly regarded but not essential.

You'll also bring:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A strategic and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously and contribute positively to a collaborative team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving safe, sustainable return to work outcomes.

Why join Altius Group?

At Altius, you'll be part of a team that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of people, workplaces and communities. You'll have the opportunity to build strong stakeholder relationships, contribute to better recovery outcomes and play an active role in helping people return to work with confidence.
