Do you have experience developing medical devices or other regulated products? Are you skilled at translating clinical and business needs into clear priorities for technical teams? Would you like to help develop innovative AI solutions that can improve patients’ lives?

Then your next career move may be as Product Owner for AI Development at Ambu.

AI Development at Ambu

You will join the Algorithms department within Software & Electronics in Ambu’s global R&D organization. The department develops advanced AI and algorithmic solutions for Ambu’s endoscopy products and includes specialists in deep learning, image processing, and data engineering.

You will be Product Owner for a cross-functional Agile team consisting of AI developers, data engineers, and a Test & Verification engineer. The team participates in Ambu’s Scaled Agile Release Train, ART, and collaborates closely with other teams and stakeholders.

The position is based in either Ballerup, Denmark, or Augsburg, Germany. You will report to Lee Lassen, AI Manager, who is part of the Algorithms leadership organization under the Head of Algorithms.

Your Role

As Product Owner, you will maximize the value delivered by the AI development team. You will translate product objectives, clinical needs, technical opportunities, and regulatory requirements into a clear and prioritized backlog.

You will work closely with Product Management, engineering managers, architects, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, project stakeholders, and other Product Owners across the ART.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the team backlog in alignment with product priorities and ART objectives.

  • Translate clinical, product, technical, quality, and regulatory needs into clear features, user stories, enablers, and acceptance criteria.

  • Participate actively in PI Planning and support the definition and delivery of realistic, value-driven PI objectives.

  • Coordinate priorities and dependencies with Product Management, architects, other Product Owners, Agile teams, and relevant stakeholders.

  • Guide the cross-functional team through AI development activities spanning data preparation, model development, testing, verification, and product release.

  • Monitor progress, risks, and dependencies while supporting design control, continuous improvement, and effective Agile ways of working.

Occasional travel between Ambu sites and other development locations should be expected for up to 20 days / year.

Suggested Candidate Profile

You are proactive, structured, and committed to delivering value. You enjoy working with technical specialists and can balance product, clinical, technical, regulatory, and business considerations.

You are likely to succeed in this position if you have:

  • A relevant degree in engineering, computer science, data science, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience as a Product Owner, technical Product Manager, project lead, or in a similar product-development role.

  • Experience with medical devices or another regulated industry, including design control, requirements, risk management, and verification.

  • Experience with Agile development and preferably working within a Scaled Agile Framework, SAFe, organization.

  • A good understanding of AI, machine learning, data engineering, software development, or other data-driven product development.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder-management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to create clarity across technical and cross-functional teams.
