AMD

AMD is an American semiconductor company founded in 1969 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, that designs processors, graphics chips and adaptive computing hardware without owning fabrication plants. Its Ryzen and Threadripper processors and Radeon graphics serve consumers and creators, EPYC server chips have taken a large share of the data centre market from Intel, and the Instinct accelerators compete for AI training and inference workloads. The 2022 acquisition of Xilinx added field-programmable gate arrays and adaptive systems on chip, and the company also supplies the custom silicon inside the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

THE ROLE:

AMD engineering operates a large enterprise source-control environment spanning thousands of repositories and numerous development organizations. We are looking for a Senior Source Control Engineer to help lead the platform’s governance, security, and automation so that it can scale across the company without requiring the administration team to scale at the same rate.

THE PERSON:

You are an experienced DevOps or platform engineer with deep knowledge of enterprise source-control administration. You can lead complex migrations, strengthen identity and credential security, automate administrative workflows, and partner effectively with engineering and security teams. You are also comfortable mentoring platform administrators and serving as an escalation point for complex issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer enterprise source-control platforms, both cloud-based and self-hosted, including upgrades, organization and permission models, ownership rules, and enterprise-wide policies.
  • Plan and lead repository migrations and consolidations between platforms, with clear ownership, timelines, and decommissioning decisions.
  • Own identity and credential security for the platform, including token policies, app-based automation in place of personal credentials, service accounts, SSO and SCIM provisioning, and audit logging.
  • Partner with security teams on code scanning, secret detection, dependency management, and collaborator access reviews.
  • Operate CI/CD capabilities at enterprise scale, including runner and agent infrastructure, workflow policies, and usage and cost visibility.
  • Manage license and capacity planning for platform tooling.
  • Replace manual requests with self-service capabilities, workflow automation, and policy-as-code, and publish clear guidance for engineering teams.
  • Mentor platform administrators and serve as an escalation point for complex access, migration, and security issues.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps or platform engineering, including 3+ years administering an enterprise source-control platform at scale, such as GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with platform APIs, application and integration development, and CI/CD runner or agent infrastructure.
  • Experience with application security tooling, including static application security testing, secret scanning, and software composition analysis.
  • Experience leading migrations across version-control systems, such as Git, Gerrit, Perforce, or SVN.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Go, TypeScript, or a similar language, along with infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management technologies, including SAML, OIDC, and SCIM, and with enterprise compliance requirements.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants to automate administrative and policy-related work, with appropriate security review.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

LOCATION: Markham, ON Canada
