Headquartered in Veldhoven, Netherlands, the enterprise is the world’s sole supplier of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines - including next-generation High-NA EUV platforms - alongside a broad portfolio of deep ultraviolet (DUV) systems. Through its global network of R&D centers, manufacturing facilities, and field support services across Europe, Asia, and North America, the organization enables global semiconductor foundries and chipmakers to fabricate advanced logic and memory microchips.

Introduction

The Cost Engineer is responsible for creating transparency in product and manufacturing costs and driving Cost of Goods (CoG) improvements across ASML's supply chain. The role combines engineering knowledge, manufacturing expertise, and cost modeling capabilities to support sourcing and engineering.

The Cost Engineer is part of ASML's global Cost Engineering competence and the Asia Cost of Goods (CoG) team, collaborating with Business Lines, Development & Engineering, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, and suppliers in the Asia region.

The role will have a primary focus on supporting the MLP cluster in Japan and Korea, with emphasis on Optics, Ceramics, and related high-precision manufacturing domains. At the same time, the role remains part of the broader Asia Cost Engineering capability and may support other technologies or regional priorities based on business need.

  • Define and assess manufacturing process flows for parts, assemblies, and modules.
  • Support supplier selection, supplier workshops, and sourcing negotiations through engineering-based cost analysis.
  • Validate supplier quotations and manufacturing assumptions.
  • Identify, quantify, and drive cost reduction opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Build and maintain manufacturing knowledge, cost databases, and benchmarking information.
  • Collaborate closely with Development & Engineering, Supplier Account Leads (SALs), Group Supplier Managers (GSMs), Supply Chain Engineering, Quality, and suppliers.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, supplier engineering, cost engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product structures, and cost drivers.
  • Experience working with engineering, sourcing, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Experience developing product cost calculations, should-cost models, or manufacturing cost assessments is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-tech, semiconductor, precision manufacturing, optics, electronics, or capital equipment environment is preferred.
  • Experience in one or more manufacturing domains such as precision mechanics, electronics, PCBA, optics, ceramics, and advanced materials. Understanding of manufacturing processes, product cost drivers, and supplier capabilities is preferred.

Personal Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business insights.
  • Effective stakeholder management across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.

Success Profile

The successful candidate is recognized as a trusted partner for manufacturing and product costing, capable of creating transparency in technical and business cost drivers, identifying sustainable Cost of Goods improvement opportunities, and supporting fact-based decision-making across ASML's supply chain.

The individual continuously develops expertise across multiple manufacturing technologies and contributes to strengthening both ASML's global Cost Engineering competence and the Asia Cost of Goods community.
