We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, build, and extend test automation frameworks and tooling within a defined engineering scope. You will bring a strong software engineering mindset to quality, working closely with developers and DevOps to embed automated integration, performance, and regression testing into the delivery pipeline. This role owns automation quality for its assigned scope and contributes to shift-left testing practices, working under the direction of QA and Engineering leadership rather than setting organization-wide QA strategy. 

Responsibilities  

• Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks and tooling for an assigned scope, extending beyond basic UI-based automation into integration and system-level testing. 

• Own code quality, maintainability, and technical-debt reduction for automation frameworks and test tooling components within scope. 

• Configure and extend performance testing tools such as Gatling and JMeter for specific scenarios relevant to the owned scope. 

• Build test evidence, reporting, and traceability tooling that supports release readiness and sign-off for the owned scope. 

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and keep local and pipeline test execution stable for the assigned scope. 

• Apply QA automation practices to cloud-native components (Kubernetes, Docker, microservices), ensuring tests run reliably across environments. 

• Communicate testing progress, risks, and readiness clearly to product owners, developers, and DevOps within the owned scope. 

• Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers through pairing, code reviews, and day-to-day guidance on automation practices. 

• Submit well-scoped code changes for automation tooling, respond promptly to review feedback, and provide constructive reviews for peers. 

• Identify improvements to existing automation frameworks and shift-left practices within scope, escalating cross-team tooling needs to the QA/Engineering lead. 

Requirements  

• 6-9 years of experience in QA engineering, including hands-on work building or extending test automation frameworks and tooling. 

• Strong software engineering skills in Java and/or Scala, applied to automation framework and tooling development. 

• Practical experience with performance testing tools such as Gatling and JMeter, including extending them for specific test scenarios. 

• Experience with web automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright) and mobile automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, Detox). 

• Working knowledge of cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm) and testing microservices-based systems. 

• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience integrating automated tests into DevOps workflows. 

• Experience building test evidence, reporting, or traceability tooling to support release sign-off. 

• Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers on automation and testing practices. 

• Clear written and verbal communication with product, engineering, and DevOps stakeholders on testing readiness and risk.
