Objectives of the position:

The Accounting Officer performs local finance activities in Thailand that require in-country execution and cannot be fully transferred to the BPO provider. The role focuses on purchase-to-pay operations, employee expenses, accounts receivable support, withholding tax checks and VAT reconciliation support.

The position acts as a key interface between local business teams, suppliers, customers, tax colleagues and the BPO provider. The Accounting Officer reports directly to the ASEAN Platform Finance Manager and supports accurate, timely and locally compliant finance operations.

Core responsibilities:

Purchase-to-Pay Operations

  • Receive, organize and scan supplier invoices and supporting documents for processing.
  • Perform an initial review of supplier invoices for completeness and compliance with local documentation and tax requirements.
  • Assist the BPO provider with invoice validation and provide local clarification or supporting documents when required.
  • Coordinate resolution of rejected, blocked or incomplete invoices with suppliers, business requestors and the BPO provider.
  • Support payment processing, including payment documentation, payment status follow-up and urgent payment coordination when approved.
  • Respond to routine supplier inquiries and support investigation of invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Support employee travel and expense reimbursement activities, including document checks, query resolution and coordination with the BPO provider.

Accounts Receivable & Collection Support

  • Provide customers with invoices, bill placement packages and other required supporting documents on a timely basis.
  • Maintain appropriate records of bill placement and customer correspondence.
  • Support routine follow-up with customers when payment reminders are required.
  • Coordinate customer payment information and unresolved collection matters with the BPO provider, commercial teams and the ASEAN Platform Finance Manager.
  • Support local administration of collection-related documentation, including tax receipts or other documents where applicable.

Withholding Tax & Invoice Tax Review

  • Review supplier invoices to identify the applicable withholding tax treatment.
  • Check the tax code and withholding tax classification used for invoice processing.
  • Coordinate correction of identified tax-code or withholding-tax issues with the BPO provider and relevant tax colleagues.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting information required for accurate withholding tax reporting.
  • Escalate unusual or unclear tax treatment to the Senior Accountant, tax colleagues or ASEAN Platform Finance Manager for technical assessment.

VAT Reconciliation Support

  • Assist the BPO provider P2P team with monthly input VAT reconciliation.
  • Review supplier tax invoices and supporting documents for VAT-related completeness.
  • Investigate differences between supplier invoices, accounting records and VAT reconciliation reports.
  • Collect missing documents and coordinate corrections of identified VAT discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized supporting documentation for VAT filings, audits and tax reviews.
  • Escalate unresolved or material VAT issues to the responsible tax colleague and ASEAN Platform Finance Manager.

Local Compliance, Controls & Process Support

  • Maintain orderly filing and archiving of finance and tax documents in accordance with local requirements and company policy.
  • Support internal controls relating to invoice processing, payments, employee expenses and tax documentation.
  • Provide supporting documents for internal audit, external audit and tax review requests.
  • Support transition, stabilization and continuous-improvement activities between the local team and BPO provider.
  • Follow established approval authorities, segregation-of-duties requirements and escalation procedures.

Professional and educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable, Finance Operations, Employee Expenses or related accounting activities.
  • Practical exposure to Thai VAT and withholding tax requirements.
  • Experience working with a BPO provider is preferred.
  • Experience in a multinational or manufacturing company is advantageous.
  • Experience using SAP or another ERP system; SAP S/4HANA exposure is advantageous.
  • Experience with invoice workflow tools is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and disciplined document management.
  • Ability to review invoices and supporting documents accurately and identify exceptions.
  • Strong communication skills in both Thai and English.

  • Sufficient English proficiency to effectively collaborate with regional teams and external service providers.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliant execution.
  • Service-oriented communication with suppliers, employees, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Able to manage recurring deadlines and follow up proactively on open items.
  • Comfortable working in a lean team with direct access to the ASEAN Platform Finance Manager.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support activities across P2P, O2C and tax processes.
