Kafka Platform/system engineer (senior)

In collaboration with several customers, BEC is developing a platform, based on Kafka, which will support the specific business needs of each bank.

For BEC, we are looking for an experienced and innovative Kafka Systems Engineer to contribute to the development and integration tasks on the Kafka platform. You will be part of an agile team responsible for maintaining a strategic integration platform to ensure that the platform is continuously being expanded with new capabilities to support business needs.

Primary task and responsibilities:

• As a developer, you will work closely with your colleagues to create and maintain our event streaming platform based on Kafka, contributing to the future success of BEC’s customers.
• Your primary tasks will include designing, implementing, and maintaining the Kafka platform, as well as developing tools and procedures for monitoring, logging, and improving deployments. You will also prepare documentation on the use of Kafka and support other teams across the organization in effectively using the platform.
• As we use DDD (Domain-Driven Design) for modelling, you will collaborate closely with other development teams to support the implementation of this approach in their work.
• You will also contribute to creating innovative, scalable, and stable IT solutions, with a strong focus on operational stability. Through extensions and configurations, you will help ensure that BEC’s solutions can effectively support the financial sector’s business processes and evolving technical possibilities.

You will work with a modern toolset, including technologies, methods and principles, such as:

• Apache Kafka, supported by Confluent
• Java / Spring Boot
• OpenShift / Kubernetes / Helm
• CI / CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery)
• Best practices in software development, test-driven development, design patterns, etc.

To succeed you will have:

• A relevant educational background in IT or software engineering, combined with experience with technologies such as Kubernetes (K8s) / OpenShift, Java, and Jenkins / Argo CD.
• Experience in running and maintaining a Kafka platform or event streaming applications
• Experience working in agile development teams.
• A service-minded approach and experience working with customers, partners, and colleagues.
• The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines related to ongoing deliveries and operations.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, combined with an analytical and structured approach to your work.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have section:

• Experience from the financial sector, telecom, pharma, or a major consultancy would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
