Senior Software Engineer

You'll join our Identity and Access Management Engineering team, where security, reliability and engineering excellence are treated as fundamental parts of everything we build.

Identity is one of the most critical building blocks of modern banking. Every secure login, every permission and every customer journey depends on systems that are secure, reliable and built to scale.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll help design, build and evolve the Identity and Access Management platform that protects how customers and employees securely access Bigbank's services.

You'll influence architecture, drive technical decisions, and own solutions throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to production support.

Working primarily with Node.js and Java backends (deployed on Kubernetes), but also the occasional Vue.js, you'll help build secure authentication and user management services that thousands of customers rely on every day.

In this role you will

• Design, build and maintain secure Identity & Access Management (IAM) services.

• Develop authentication, authorization and identity lifecycle solutions.

• Design scalable, secure and maintainable software architectures.

• Implement functional, non-functional and security requirements.

• Build automated tests and continuously improve software quality.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability.

• Participate in technical design discussions, architecture decisions and code reviews.

• Collaborate with engineers across multiple teams to deliver secure software solutions.

• Take ownership of solutions throughout their entire lifecycle - from design to implementation and maintenance.

• Continuously improve engineering practices, system performance and operational excellence.

Requirements

We believe you'll succeed in this role if you have

• At least 6 years of professional software development experience.

• Strong backend development experience using either Node.js and/or Java

• Experience developing secure software

• Experience designing and building distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.

• Experience with agentic workflows in the development process

• Strong commitment to automated testing and software quality.

• Experience troubleshooting and supporting production systems.

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, clean code and design patterns.

• Good understanding of secure software development practices.

• Experience working in Agile engineering teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good English language skills.

• Currently residing in Estonia and able to work from Estonia.

• Working on authentication, authorization or Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions.
