Modernization Software Engineer

You Have:
5+ years of experience with software development with Rust and C/C++, including debugging, testing, and system-level programming
Experience with lower-level programming concepts such as memory management, modularity, and design patterns
Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling
Experience with Linux
Experience with Git, SSH, CLI tooling, and general networking fundamentals
Ability to work in both Linux and Windows environments
Ability to interpret sparse or outdated documentation and read legacy interfaces
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience with Python for tooling, scripting, and test automation
Experience in modernizing legacy software systems
Experience with Navy submarine or surface combat systems, including AN/BYG-1, SWFTS, or TI/APB
Experience with messaging or streaming systems such as Kafka, NATS, gRPC, or Redpanda
Experience with system telemetry frameworks such as Prometheus or Grafana
Knowledge of real-time acoustic, sonar, or signal-processing systems
Ability to demonstrate an interest in emerging developer tooling, including local LLMs, vector databases, or workflow automation using AI-forward approaches
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
