The role:
This is not a traditional account management role. This is an opportunity for you to take ownership of a strategically important global energy portfolio, work directly with some of the world's largest energy companies, and play a key role in delivering Castrol's ambitious growth agenda through to 2030.
As Business Development Manager, Global Energy, you will be at the centre of a newly approved growth strategy designed to accelerate business performance across Castrol's energy segment. You'll work with major multinational customers operating in offshore oil & gas, drilling, power generation and energy infrastructure sectors, helping to identify, develop and convert high-value commercial opportunities on a global scale.
If you're an experienced business developer with deep Oil & Gas expertise, a track record of winning and growing complex enterprise accounts, and the ability to influence stakeholders across global organisations, this is a unique opportunity to make a visible commercial impact in a high-profile role.
Why this role?
The energy business is one of Castrol's most strategically important global segments, generating approximately $100 million in annual turnover and delivering strong profitability.
With a newly approved strategy targeting significant growth by 2030, this role offers the chance to:
- Influence the direction of a global business at a pivotal point in its journey.
- Lead growth initiatives across some of the world's largest energy companies.
- Work directly with senior stakeholders and decision-makers inside complex multinational organisations.
- Drive commercial outcomes that have visible impact across the wider business.
- Build and expand relationships with major global customers including leading international energy operators.
- Collaborate with a highly experienced global team recognised for its expertise within the sector.
- Gain exposure to senior leadership while operating in a role with significant visibility and strategic importance.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than just account management and is motivated by building pipelines, identifying new opportunities, influencing complex organisations and delivering measurable business growth.
About the team:
Reporting to the global energy leader, you will act as a critical link between regional sales teams, business development functions and key global customers.
You'll take ownership of developing growth opportunities across a portfolio of major strategic accounts, ensuring opportunities are identified, prioritised, aligned internally and successfully converted into commercial outcomes.
A large proportion of your work will involve navigating complex customer organisations, coordinating global and regional stakeholders, and turning strategic plans into tangible business growth.
Key tasks:
Drive Strategic Growth
- Execute Castrol's newly approved Energy growth strategy.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable commercial plans.
- Identify, evaluate and pursue new business opportunities across priority markets and customers.
- Support long-term value creation through robust pipeline management and opportunity development.
Develop Major Global Accounts
- Manage relationships across a portfolio of key multinational Energy customers.
- Expand revenue within existing accounts by identifying under-penetrated opportunities and new applications.
- Build strong relationships with senior customer stakeholders across multiple regions.
- Support strategic customer engagements, joint business planning activities and executive-level relationship management.
Lead Business Development Activity
- Drive prospecting activity and build a sustainable growth pipeline.
- Evaluate market opportunities, competitive dynamics and customer trends.
- Lead complex tender and offer development processes.
- Ensure commercial opportunities are fully captured and effectively executed.
Influence Across the Organisation
- Act as a central coordination point between regional and global teams.
- Align stakeholders across sales, marketing, operations and supply chain functions.
- Monitor business performance and intervene where required to accelerate delivery.
- Support the Energy leadership team with performance tracking, forecasting and opportunity prioritisation.
Champion Excellence and Safety
- Promote a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Support colleagues across the Energy business to achieve ambitious growth objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all HSSE, regulatory and company requirements, maintaining safety as the number one priority in everything we do.
Experience required:
We're looking for a commercially driven professional who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capability.
- Proven Business Development or Sales Leadership experience within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Strong knowledge of Energy markets, customer environments and industry dynamics.
- A track record of delivering business growth and achieving ambitious commercial targets.
- Experience managing complex enterprise-level sales cycles.
- Demonstrated success growing multinational customer relationships.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Strong project management and programme implementation capability.
- Experience operating successfully within matrix organisations.
You'll Stand Out If You Have:
- Experience working with offshore, drilling, subsea, power generation or broader energy infrastructure customers.
- A background in major energy service providers, engineering organisations, operators or consultancy firms focused on Oil & Gas.
- Strong commercial curiosity and an instinct for identifying untapped opportunities.
- Experience balancing global strategy with regional execution.
- A reputation for solving complex commercial challenges and creating measurable business value.
The successful candidate will be:
- Highly driven and self-motivated.
- Comfortable operating independently and taking ownership.
- Skilled at influencing senior stakeholders.
- Confident working across cultures, regions and time zones.
- Commercially astute and growth focused.
- Resilient, proactive and solution oriented.
- Equally comfortable discussing strategy in the boardroom and driving execution with operational teams.
If you're looking for a role that combines global exposure, strategic influence, commercial ownership and genuine career opportunity, this could be your next career-defining move.
