Vice President of Technology - Digital & Platform Engineering

Catalyst Brands is seeking a future-forward, execution-strong Vice President of Digital & Platform Engineering to lead the end-to-end modernization of our digital and retail technology platforms. This role will architect the transformation of legacy systems into composable, cloud-native, API-first foundations that power omni-channel agility and seamless customer experiences.

As a critical member of the CDTO’s leadership team, the VP will shape our engineering strategy, scale high-performance global teams, and embed a modern engineering culture grounded in velocity, quality, and customer value. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead modernization of the retail technology stack, transforming legacy systems into cloud-native, API-first platforms and enabling composable commerce, real-time architecture, and scalable personalization across core systems like eCommerce, POS, OMS, Loyalty, and PIM.
• Build and scale high-performing, inclusive engineering teams by designing agile operating models, developing global talent, and coaching leaders to balance speed, scalability, and platform health.
• Drive engineering excellence and innovation by embedding a product mindset, advancing modern DevSecOps practices, and fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a hands-on technical leader, actively engaging in architecture decisions, mentoring senior engineers, and creating frameworks that balance standardization with innovation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver scalable digital solutions, translating strategic goals into tech capabilities and advising executives on personalization, modular design, and fulfillment innovation.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

• 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership, including 5+ years leading enterprise-scale modernization in retail, digital commerce, or consumer tech environments.
• Proven expertise in cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP), APIs, microservices, real-time data platforms, and event-driven systems.
• Deep experience with modernizing complex legacy systems and launching new digital capabilities.
• Familiarity with core retail systems (eCommerce, ERP, POS, OMS, loyalty) and their integration with customer-facing experiences.
• Demonstrated success leading global, distributed engineering teams and driving measurable business impact.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical strategy in fast-paced, agile environments.
