About the Role
This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage B2B energy tech startup building an AI-powered platform that helps industrial companies optimise energy procurement and manage consumption in response to live market conditions. You'll join a small, ambitious team and have direct influence over product direction, technical architecture, and customer outcomes - from day one.
What You'll Do
Own the full product lifecycle from design through deployment, working closely with founders and customers.
Translate product objectives into concrete requirements through direct customer collaboration.
Design simple, iterative solutions to complex energy procurement and optimisation problems.
Build performant backend services for a data-intensive, real-time application.
Develop intuitive, elegant user interfaces for a complex decision-support system.
Train time-series forecasting models for power consumption and renewables production.
Develop linear optimisation algorithms that reduce customer energy costs.
Help shape the core tech stack and engineering culture of a fast-growing startup.
What We're Looking For
2+ years of software engineering experience delivering scalable web applications in a startup or high-intensity environment - this is a dealbreaker requirement.
Proven track record of delivering full product features end-to-end, independently, in close collaboration with customers.
Strong software engineering fundamentals: robust, maintainable, scalable web application development across backend and frontend.
Experience building backend services for data-intensive applications and frontend UIs for complex decision-support systems.
Hands-on experience or strong interest in time-series forecasting and/or linear optimisation.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, and Python; FastAPI or Supabase experience is a bonus.
A genuine product mindset - you think about user impact, not just code quality.
Background as a generalist engineer, startup founder, or early CTO is a strong plus.
Curiosity about energy markets, complex data systems, and ambiguous, fast-moving problems.
