Sr. Tax Preparer | WFH

We're a small, tight-knit team building a tax firm from the ground up, and we build our own AI tooling to support the work. You would join early and build our tax practice with us.

You'll work alongside our Tax Compliance Manager and prepare the first pass of client returns. You'll assemble returns using our AI tooling and tax software, build the workpapers, and hand off to our review team. Tax judgment calls sit with the reviewer, not with you, so you'll be learning how our reviewers think while you work. This is the seat people grow into more advanced tax work from.

What you'll do

• Prepare the first pass of individual and business returns using our AI-assisted workflow, including 1040, 1120S, 1065, and related forms.
• Build accurate, well-organized workpapers so the reviewer has what they need.
• Track down missing documents and information to keep returns moving.
• Flag anything unusual or unclear to the review team.
• Keep our systems current so the team can see where every return stands.
• Tell us what's slowing you down so we can fix the workflow and the tooling.

Qualifications

• You have 5+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience, including 1040, 1120S, and 1065 returns.
• Experience with any of these is a plus: trust returns, Schedule F (agriculture), K-1 investments, foreign income for U.S. residents, and multi-state returns.
• You want to build a career in tax, and you're looking for a seat where the work gets harder as you get better.
• You care about the clients behind the returns, and you want to build something new with a small team.
• You're detail-oriented and organized, and you ask questions when something doesn't look right.
• You're comfortable working remotely across tax software, client portals, and secure file sharing.
