As a Staff Software Engineer on Conga’s AI Platform team, you’ll be a key technical leader shaping the design, development, and deployment of scalable, reliable, and innovative AI and GenAI solutions. You’ll lead high-impact projects, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure our systems meet the highest standards of performance and quality.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, influencing architectural decisions, and driving excellence across teams.

Are you the person we're looking for?
You’re a seasoned technical leader.
You bring deep expertise (minimum 10 years of experience) in Python, FastAPI, PyTest, Celery, and modern design patterns. You’ve built large-scale, production-grade systems and understand distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
You drive architectural decisions.
You define and influence technical direction across teams. You lead design discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term product strategy.
You’re an expert in AI/ML and GenAI.
You have significant experience building AI/ML or GenAI applications. You understand model training, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. You’re familiar with frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph and have hands-on experience with modern ML techniques, generative models, or LLMs.
You elevate teams through mentorship.
You coach senior and junior engineers, raise the bar for code quality, and foster a culture of technical excellence. You provide thoughtful feedback, share knowledge, and help others grow.
You take full ownership in a DevOps model.
You lead projects end-to-end - from ideation and design to deployment and monitoring. You ensure services are reliable, observable, and resilient. You respond to incidents, drive root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
You collaborate and influence across the organization.
You partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineering leadership to deliver cohesive solutions. You articulate technical decisions clearly and help stakeholders understand their business impact.
What will give you an edge
- Hands-on experience with advanced ML algorithms, generative models, NLP, transformers, or diffusion models
- Deep familiarity with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, MSSQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with GCP technologies (VertexAI, BigQuery, GKE, GCS, DataFlow)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure-as-code tools
- Experience with messaging systems like Kafka
- Contributions to open-source projects or the AI/ML community
- Additional programming languages (C#, Java, Scala)
