Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the implementation of business development activities through the identification of new leads and business opportunities. They are actively contribute to the definition of the business development strategic plan and coordinate projects to increase sales opportunities, accelerate revenue generating initiatives in order to achieve sustainable and profitable growth in alignment with the overall vision and strategy of the organization.

• Executing business development strategy in ways that directly support the achievement of CRe vision, mission and corporate objectives
• Preparing market leading business development plans
• Collating market intelligence and creating comprehensive market database
• Sharing market information with Underwriting team
• Crafting effective market entry approaches
• Defining and executing portfolio management plans
• Managing book of business and servicing clients
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients
• Facilitating and maintaining communication between underwriters and customers.
• Meeting clients and understanding their business needs/aspirations.
• Propose the best individual product solutions for clients in close collaboration with Underwriters
• Driving uptake of products by customers
• Positioning CRe as a customer centric partner
• Analysis of identified opportunities to ensure they are in keeping with our risk appetite
• Collaborating with Underwriters in interacting with customers
• Reviewing renewal pipelines and following up
• Creates and updates comprehensive industry, competitor and customer models including, but not limited to, market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces.
• Performs thorough, systematic analysis of key Industry trends; the general social economic and political environment; legal and regulatory issues; customers, current and potential competitors.
• Provides market and competitive insights through presentations and reports to the Executive Leadership Team and various internal management teams to allow effective strategic and tactical decision-making and implementation.
• Supplies the market and competitive intelligence component of strategic planning, and proactively makes recommendations to management concerning key intelligence items that require further consideration.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of data sources, evaluating their credibility and potential utility, and leverages them across the company where appropriate.
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of designated markets and trends through reading reports, market research, data manipulation and financial modeling and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and instructions
• Ensure that all relevant periodic and ad-hoc reports for all managers in the Business Development function are prepared timely and accurately
• Contribute to the preparation of the regions revenue and expense budget for business development.
• Assist in monitoring production, business development costs, collections and technical portfolio performance.
• Analysis of performance of Competitors & peers
• Support in the development of Training Materials and Presentations
• Assist in the publication of Articles in the Corporate Magazine & Newsletter.
• Develop and deliver marketing materials for Continental Re.
• Analyze and evaluate the business environment to adopt advances in technology

• A degree in any of the Science or Social Science Faculties, Associate member of an Insurance body, a Masters degree will be an advantage.
