Onsite Network Engineer

In this role you will be responsible in supporting both in-place and in-cloud technologies & technology users via defined procedures. The position reports to an IT manager and is part of a team that supports both the voice and data networks for various corporate business functions.

Responsibilities

• Offers technical guidance in managing the company's data and voice networks.
• Installs, maintains, and provides support for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), telephone systems, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
• Installs, supports, and maintains tools for network management, monitoring, and security.
• Conducts technical analyses of software, hardware, and transmission systems utilizing various diagnostic tools to ensure efficient network operations.
• Observes, evaluates, and resolves issues within network and telecom environments to eliminate faults and guarantee high-quality transmission.
• Engages with third-party service providers and IT vendors.
• Creates and maintains documentation pertinent to the network environment.
• Collaborates with other IT specialists (such as the security team, server team, Helpdesk, etc.) on complex projects.
• Participates in team and project meetings as necessary.
• Gains insight into the general industry standard usage of supported technologies.
• Develops a basic understanding of business processes and how they rely on supported technologies.
• Fosters relationships within the IT department and with clients to enhance collaboration and teamwork essential for achieving organizational goals.
• Performs other tasks as assigned, with or without accommodations.
• Works within a team environment that involves frequent use of PCs and collaborative tools.
• Physical installation and relocation of network devices and associated hardware are required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related business field
• CCNA certification or similar knowledge advantage, CCNP certification is advantage and preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Systems
• Extensive experience with LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and wireless technologies, encompassing routing, switching, routing protocols, network hardware, management, and security
• Proficient in the deployment and operations of Fortinet technologies
• Experience with Cisco networking solutions
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and operations
• Solid understanding of the OSI model
• Skills in advanced data network design
• Significant experience with telephony systems, including PBX, voicemail, and related platforms
• Able to develop and troubleshoot programming for voice systems and call routing
• Strong knowledge of carrier network interfaces and services, proficient in VOIP/TDM and TCP/IP environments
• Exceptional analytical abilities with advanced problem-solving skills, including collaboration with peer technical teams to analyze and resolve cross-platform issues or to create problem-solving techniques, tools, and instructions for new or complex technologies
• Solid business knowledge with a strong grasp of how supported technologies integrate into business operations, effectively applying this understanding in daily support and addressing unusual or critical issues
• Knowledge of Linux/UNIX is a plus
• Essential knowledge of Fortinet NSE Certification or equivalent; NSE certification is preferred
• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification is a preferred advantage
• Familiarity with VMWare and MS Server is advantageous
• Excellent communication skills, with strong verbal and written proficiency in English; additional language skills are welcome
