DecisionPoint Corporation is a government technology contractor headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, delivering cloud adoption, cybersecurity, intelligent automation, digital services and IT modernization to US federal and defense agencies. Founded in 2016, it keeps an office in Reston and supports programs for military family, Air Force and other defense customers at sites such as Arlington, Atlanta, San Antonio, Portsmouth and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Hiring covers cloud, network and zero trust engineers, AI and ML architects, API developers, help desk and customer support technicians, system administrators, SEO specialists and communications strategists.

Overview

DecisionPoint seeks an Enterprise Architect to provide senior architectural and systems-engineering leadership for the USMEPCOM ENLIST program. This position develops concepts of operations, conducts technical trade studies, decomposes mission needs into actionable system requirements, defines interface requirements, develops scalable architecture approaches, and provides technical inputs for rough-order-of-magnitude estimates.

The Enterprise Architect evaluates current and target-state architectures across software, data, cloud, infrastructure, integration, security, and operations. The architect ensures proposed solutions are secure, interoperable, extensible, scalable, resilient, supportable, and aligned with USMEPCOM mission priorities and applicable Federal and DoD standards.

This position works closely with Government mission owners, software and systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, cloud and infrastructure teams, data teams, technical leads, Agile delivery teams, testers, configuration managers, operations personnel, and program leadership.

This position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred. Occasional travel or on-site participation may be required for architecture workshops, planning sessions, design reviews, or Government briefings.

Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Enterprise Architect will:

  • Lead enterprise architecture and systems-engineering activities across software, data, integration, cloud, infrastructure, security, and operational domains.
  • Assess current-state systems, architectures, processes, interfaces, capabilities, constraints, risks, and technical debt.

  • Develop or oversee Interface Control Documents and Interface Design Documents.
  • Identify interface participants, protocols, data structures, message patterns, authentication methods, dependencies, service levels, error handling, versioning, and ownership.
  • Evaluate API, event, batch, file-transfer, database, identity, network, and third-party integration approaches.
  • Coordinate interface requirements with application owners, mission partners, external agencies, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Ensure interfaces are designed for security, maintainability, observability, backward compatibility, and controlled evolution.
  • Develop scalability and extensibility approaches.
  • Assess anticipated demand, mission criticality, transaction volume, data growth, concurrency, integration load, and performance requirements.
  • Define approaches for horizontal and vertical scaling, elasticity, capacity management, modularity, reuse, and controlled expansion.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce or retire unused or excess capacity.
  • Ensure architecture supports sustainability, high availability, COOP, backup, recovery, and established service-level requirements.
  • Evaluate single points of failure, capacity constraints, resilience gaps, recovery dependencies, and operational risks.
  • Define architectural requirements for monitoring, logging, alerting, supportability, fault isolation, and service restoration.
  • Develop technical inputs for rough-order-of-magnitude estimates.

  • Develop modernization roadmaps and transition architectures.
  • Define implementation phases, architecture increments, technical dependencies, sequencing, interim states, migration considerations, and retirement activities.
  • Support planning for transitions from legacy and on-premises capabilities to approved centralized, cloud, hybrid, or modernized environments.
  • Assess migration readiness and identify architecture changes required before transition.
  • Support the design, establishment, use, and decommissioning of development, integration, testing, staging, and operational environments.
  • Ensure preproduction environments adequately represent interfaces, dependencies, configurations, security controls, performance conditions, and operational constraints.
  • Support architecture and design activities within Agile software-development processes.
  • Provide architectural guidance during release and Sprint planning, backlog refinement, design, development, integration, testing, and demonstrations.
  • Help teams translate architecture requirements into technical user stories, enablers, acceptance criteria, and implementation tasks.
  • Maintain an architecture runway supporting current delivery and anticipated mission needs.
  • Review Sprint outputs for architecture alignment and identify required corrective or follow-on work.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, system-design reviews, interface reviews, security reviews, technical interchange meetings, release-readiness reviews, and demonstrations.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to incorporate security architecture, trust boundaries, access controls, data protection, logging, vulnerability management, and applicable RMF controls.
  • Ensure architectural solutions account for applicable Federal and DoD software standards and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides.
  • Evaluate security impacts throughout the system lifecycle and document architecture-level risks and mitigations.
  • Ensure architecture documentation remains aligned with configuration baselines, approved changes, deployed systems, and operational realities.
