Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs is looking for a highly skilled and passionate Lead Engineer - Java to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable enterprise-grade applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java-based backend development, cloud-native architecture, microservices, and modern engineering practices. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can contribute to architecture decisions, mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
  • Lead the development of cloud-native, microservices-based solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure application scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
  • Build and optimise RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
  • Participate in system design discussions and technical roadmap planning.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis.
