QA / Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled QA / Test Automation Engineer with strong expertise in API testing and Java-based automation frameworks to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in building scalable automation solutions for REST APIs, validating API contracts, integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring high-quality software delivery. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to drive quality across the software development lifecycle through automation-first testing practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based API automation frameworks using REST Assured.
• Perform comprehensive API testing using Postman, REST Assured, and other automation tools.
• Validate REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Develop and execute contract testing to ensure compatibility between microservices.
• Create automated test suites for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Build and execute OAuth2/JWT authentication and authorisation test scenarios.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality assurance.
• Manage and maintain reusable test data for automated testing.
• Identify, document, and track defects while collaborating with development teams for timely resolution.
• Analyse test execution reports and continuously improve automation coverage and framework performance.
• Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote automation best practices across teams.

Requirements:

• 4.6-8 years of experience in QA/test automation engineering.
• Strong expertise in API testing.
• Hands-on experience with Postman.
• Strong proficiency in REST Assured.
• Excellent programming skills in Java.
• Experience building Java-based test automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and HTTP protocols.
• Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger Validation.
• Hands-on experience in contract testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc. ).
• Experience with test data management strategies.
• Strong understanding of OAuth2/JWT authentication testing.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have:

• Experience with Cucumber (BDD).
• Performance testing using JMeter, Gatling, or k6
• Basic knowledge of security testing principles.
• Experience with WireMock or other mocking frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with consumer-driven contract testing (e. g., Pact).
• Exposure to containerised environments using Docker.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Experience working in product-based or cloud-native engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API-driven applications.
• Passion for test automation, quality engineering, and continuous improvement.
