Senior DevOps Engineer I

We are seeking a motivated and skilled DevOps Engineer I to join our Cloud Platform team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud operations. The role involves supporting and improving cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, platform reliability, and automation initiatives. The candidate should be comfortable working in regulated or closed-network environments and supporting modern data platform services running on GCP. Key

Responsibilities:

• Manage and support GCP infrastructure and platform services.
• Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (GitLab and ArgoCD).
• Monitor platform health, performance, and availability. Implement cloud security and operational best practices.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and application issues.
• Support data platform services and cloud-native integrations.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis activities.
• Contribute to cloud cost optimization initiatives.
• Work closely with development, data engineering, and platform teams.

Requirements:

• Required Skills: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Compute Engine, VPC Networking, IAM, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, Cloud Storage (GCS), Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Kubernetes.
• Experience with GKE Kubernetes deployments and troubleshooting; Ingress and networking concepts; resource management; pod lifecycle management; Infrastructure as Code Terraform.
• Terraform modules: Remote state management; infrastructure automation; networking; VPC design and management; subnets; routing; firewall rules; VPN and private connectivity concepts; data platform services.
• Exposure to: BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), and Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs.
• Document Author: People Team; Version Control: 1.0 Released on 1-Apr-20 for Internal Circulation Only; Kafka, CloudAMQP, Google Cloud Storage (GCS).
• Monitoring and Operations: Grafana, Prometheus, Cloud Monitoring, Incident Troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in closed or restricted network environments.
• Understanding of multi-project GCP environments.
• Familiarity with security and compliance controls.
• Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, Shell).
• Exposure to GitOps methodologies.
• Good to have: ArgoCD, Helm, FinOps, and cloud cost optimization practices.
