Senior SDET (Java API Automation)

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SDET with strong expertise in Java-based test automation, API testing, and modern UI automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable automation frameworks from scratch, driving automation strategy, and ensuring high-quality software releases in Agile environments.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for API and UI testing.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts using Java, Rest Assured, and Playwright.
• Perform API validation, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Automate testing for web applications, microservices, and backend systems.
• Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Managers, and QA teams throughout the SDLC.
• Analyse test results, identify defects, and drive defect resolution with engineering teams.
• Improve automation coverage, execution efficiency, and overall quality processes.
• Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Mentor junior QA/SDET engineers and contribute to quality engineering best practices.

Requirements:

• Strong programming skills in Java.
• Expertise in API Automation Testing using Rest Assured.
• Hands-on experience in UI Automation using Playwright.
• Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch.
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts, Design Patterns, and Test Automation Architecture.
• Experience with TestNG or JUnit.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, JSON, and API validation.
• Experience with Git and version control systems.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• SQL and database validation.
• Docker and containerised testing.
• Microservices testing experience.
• Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
