We are looking for a Software Engineer with strong Java development skills and hands-on experience in cloud-native application development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for building scalable, high-performance backend services and deploying them on GCP. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy backend development and want to work on cloud-native, distributed systems in a large-scale enterprise environment, with one of the world's leading global telecommunication companies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Design, deploy, and manage backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect cloud-native solutions.
  • Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud environments.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and production support.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems deployed on GCP.
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and software engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Java development.
  • Strong knowledge of Java 8/11/17 and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, etc.
  • Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong foundation in backend engineering and distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ownership mindset with attention to code quality and performance.

Good to Have:

  • GCP certification (Associate/Professional Cloud Engineer or Developer).
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
  • Knowledge of Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices.
