Level 3 Azure Cloud Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Azure Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. Working as part of an Infrastructure Services team, you will support fast-paced, cloud-focused environments with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerisation, serverless technologies, automation, and the broader Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

This role is well suited to a technically strong cloud professional who can independently deliver production-grade Azure solutions while collaborating effectively with DevOps, software engineering, security, and other technical stakeholders.

Ideal Profile

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise across Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Azure Virtual Network, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform, with familiarity in Bicep or ARM templates.
• Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and optimising containerised workloads using AKS.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, including Repos, Pipelines, and Boards.
• Familiarity with CI/CD technologies such as Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Grafana.
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, including Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, ExpressRoute, and VPN Gateway.
• Experience with Azure security technologies such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Key Vault, Azure Policy, and Azure RBAC.
• Experience administering both Windows and Linux environments within Azure.
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Proficiency with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Approximately three to five years of professional experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or a related technical role, preferably with a strong Microsoft Azure focus.
• Proven experience designing and managing production-grade Azure environments.
• Relevant certifications are highly regarded, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or comparable certifications.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, manage, and continuously improve cloud solutions within Microsoft Azure.
• Maintain highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient Azure environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
• Apply strong version-control, modularisation, and reusability practices across IaC solutions.
• Deploy, administer, and optimise Azure Kubernetes Service clusters and containerised workloads.
• Partner with development teams to design and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and related technologies.
• Implement effective monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and associated observability tools.
• Optimise Azure environments for performance and cost efficiency using Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor, and appropriate cloud optimisation practices.
• Implement Azure security best practices across identity, access control, secrets management, networking, and infrastructure.
• Support compliance with organisational and industry requirements through technologies such as Azure Policy and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, security, and other technical teams to deliver robust cloud solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders involved in Azure initiatives.
• Maintain awareness of Microsoft Azure developments, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to continuously improve cloud services.
• Prioritise critical business requirements and deliver work to a consistently high professional standard.
• Contribute positively to team culture, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
• Manage organisational resources responsibly and support the broader objectives and interests of the business.
