Work Arrangement: Fully onsite, Monday to Friday (5 days a week)
Job Description
We are looking for a COBOL Developer to support application development, enhancement, and production support activities within a mainframe environment. The role involves improving system configurations, developing new features, and ensuring application stability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Support business operations by enhancing system configurations and developing new features for COBOL / mainframe applications
Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot system or production issues; identify root causes and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence
Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness
Maintain and improve code quality, including automation in testing processes
Analyze technology trends and identify opportunities to enhance system efficiency and business productivity
Contribute to and maintain accurate documentation for development and production support processes
Ensure documentation and procedures are up to date and optimized for efficiency
Work Experience
Senior: More than 6 years of development experience; strong understanding of development processes and prior experience as a technical lead
Experience in supporting production systems and business users will be an advantage.
Experience in finance, banking, or insurance industries is preferred.
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology or a related field
Alternative learning paths (e.g., bootcamps) may be considered
ITIL certification is an advantage
Required Technical Skills
Proven experience as a COBOL Developer or in a similar role
Strong understanding of mainframe technologies and environments (batch and online processing)
Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and TSO
Understanding of legacy system modernization techniques
Familiarity with IBM RTC tools is a plus
Basic knowledge of SQL
