WMYD Detroit is seeking an experienced and collaborative Studio Producer, Sports to produce live sports programming in studio. This role is responsible for working closely with production teams, on-air talent, and technical staff to deliver high-quality, engaging broadcasts that inform, entertain, and connect with sports audiences across Scripps Sports platforms.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced live production environment and possesses strong leadership, organizational, and editorial skills, along with a passion for creating compelling sports content.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Support the live production of studio shows, pre-game and post-game coverage, and other live sports programming.
  • Coordinate production staff including directors, camera operators, graphics operators, audio technicians, and production assistants.
  • Collaborate closely with on-air talent, production managers, directors, and department leaders to develop show rundowns, timing, and content for live broadcasts.
  • Make real-time production decisions and adjustments during live broadcasts to maintain a seamless and engaging viewer experience.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with control room personnel, engineering teams, and production departments to ensure successful execution of live programming.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical or production issues that arise during live broadcasts.
  • Provide creative input and oversight on the overall look, feel, pacing, and presentation of live studio programming.
  • Ensure all productions adhere to Scripps Sports standards, brand guidelines, company policies, and FCC regulations.
  • Stay informed on sports news, events, league developments, and industry trends to recommend relevant and timely programming ideas.
  • Partner with production managers to coordinate studio schedules, staffing, equipment requirements, and other logistical needs.
  • Collaborate with editorial and content teams to develop compelling segments and maximize audience engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communications, journalism, television production, sports media, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Generally, 3+ years of experience in sports broadcasting, studio production, live television production, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting or producing live studio programming in a fast-paced broadcast environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of live production workflows, control room operations, and broadcast systems.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedules based on sports programming requirements.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with talent, producers, directors, engineers, and other production personnel.
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, creativity, and viewer engagement.
  • Willingness to work long, irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by sports schedules.
