Login Technician I

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Login Technician to join our rapidly expanding team in Calgary. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Login Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples and document receipt
• Inspect samples and sample information sheet, documenting sample integrity. Notify Team Leaders of any potential problems with samples, analysis or client requests.
• Communicate with client regarding sample integrity and analysis requests and document all communications
• Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels,
• Notice of Sample Receipt and Lot Communication Sheets
• Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location
• Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping

Skills / Qualifications

• Have a diploma
• Have the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary
• Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
• Good Computer Skills
• Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory
• Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervision
• Understand what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is.
• Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required
• Able to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal

Physical Demands:

• Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
• Lifting requirements: lifting <50> 50 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
