Senior Director, Sales Engineering

Location: Santa Clara, CA (4 days onsite)

Compensation: $270,000-$315,000 

Overview

Eltropy is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Engineering leader to scale our talented pre-sales SE team. In this role, you will be responsible for growing and standardizing our sales engineering function in support of our sales efforts in the credit union market. You will align with Sales Leadership to develop your team into a strategic asset that partners with our Sales team to deliver exceptional demos and technical presentations that win the confidence of our customers.

Role & Responsibilities

• Scale and develop a talented Sales Engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, and continuous learning.
• Mentor and coach team members to grow their technical and customer-facing skills, providing regular feedback and creating clear paths for career development.
• Define and implement sales engineering best practices, methodologies, and processes that drive consistency, scalability, and customer alignment across the team.
• Own team performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with our Learning and Enablement team to develop and administer training programs to sharpen the technical knowledge, demo skills and sales acumen of the sales engineering team.
• Work closely with leadership across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to align on strategy and ensure Sales Engineering is positioned as a competitive differentiator in the market.
• Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies in credit union digital banking, contact centers, communications platforms (CCaaS), unified communications (UCaaS) and agentic AI, sharing insights with cross-functional teams.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement in the sales engineering function, and drive initiatives to optimize processes and tools.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience as a Sales Engineer, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to develop talent, coach team members, and create a high-performance culture.
• Proven track record of leading and growing sales engineering teams through significant growth phases.
• A knack for translating technical concepts and complex B2B SaaS solutions for diverse audiences in a sales setting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to dive deep into complex technical challenges.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Willingness to travel as required (estimated 20-30% quarterly).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI or conversational AI platforms and their application in customer-facing communications.
• Knowledge of contact center solution offerings (CCaaS), unified communications platforms (UCaaS), and integration landscapes serving community financial institutions.
• Experience in the credit union industry or broader financial services sector, with strong knowledge of credit union software, banking systems, and compliance requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Track record of contributing to company growth and customer success at a scaling B2B SaaS company.
