AWS Workspaces and Windows Specialist

Introduction & Summary:

We are seeking an experienced VDI / Windows Platform Specialist who will take end-to-end ownership of the Windows platform layer on AWS, ensuring a stable, secure, and scalable experience for developers and users. The candidate will work with AWS WorkSpaces and Windows EC2 to support engineering software operations while collaborating closely with internal platform and security teams.

Main Responsibilities:

• Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and operationalize Windows platform standards for AWS WorkSpaces and Windows EC2.

  • Deploy, configure, and scale AWS WorkSpaces, focusing on performance and resilience.

  • Ensure reliable installation and operation of engineering software, including storage access and licensing needs.

  • Establish Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for WorkSpaces components.

  • Define image lifecycle management using Packer.

  • Implement patching and compliance management with AWS Systems Manager.

  • Support integrations across Active Directory, Kerberos, and AWS IAM.

  • Design secure file access for users leveraging AWS storage services.

• Key Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS WorkSpaces and Windows platform operations (3+ years).

  • Experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) (3+ years).

  • Proficiency with Packer (Windows image build and lifecycle) (3+ years).

  • Knowledge of AWS Systems Manager (SSM) (3+ years).

  • Experience in GitHub Workflows (3+ years).

  • Python expertise for automation and tooling (3+ years).

• Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting engineering/CAD/GIS/CAE software in VDI.

  • Knowledge in designing file services for Windows workloads on AWS.

  • Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect or SysOps).

  • Experience with hybrid cloud setups involving Active Directory and AWS IAM.

  • Considerable Windows OS expertise.

  • Consultancy experience is a plus.
