Your Role:

The Senior Process Engineer supports 13CO distillation operations at the Miamisburg, Ohio facility. The position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Project Engineering, contractors, vendors, and site leadership. The incumbent manages projects below approximately $1 million and serves as the process liaison with Project Engineering on larger initiatives.

This is a 100% on-site role with expected on-call support for troubleshooting issues involving the 13CO distillation plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly review 13CO distillation plant operations to identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Work proactively with plant personnel to investigate operating problems and develop innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate alternative technologies and engineering approaches that may improve plant performance or provide a business advantage.
  • Maintain current working files covering plant design, operation, and process safety management information to support future expansion and modifications.
  • Develop project justifications, requirements, scopes of work, technical designs, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for management approval.
  • Provide timely engineering analyses and recommendations to Operations, Maintenance, management, and other internal customers.
  • Interpret applicable codes, policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements and translate them into design bases, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Calculate and document equipment sizing assumptions based on production and business needs.
  • Review contract engineering process design packages for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Prepare or coordinate process design drawings, including P&IDs, material and energy balances, and electrical classification documentation.
  • Manage project schedules and costs, identify deviations, and communicate impacts to customers and management.
  • Prepare scope-change documentation and associated cost information for review and approval.
  • Support project closeout activities, including startup, validation, regulatory, and documentation activities as required by the project scope.
  • Serve as a Data Integrity subject matter expert after certification and act as site Data Integrity Administrator where appropriate.
  • Manage quality control and coordinate contractor services, materials, and equipment required to meet project and process objectives.
  • Inspect completed work, delivered materials, and received equipment for conformance with specifications, bids, and quotations; issue purchase orders as required.
  • Review invoices and approve them for proper payment.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned while maintaining exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated work experience.

  • Ability to read, interpret, summarize, and implement policies, codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to conceptualize project scope and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience with project management techniques, project schedules, and cost control.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation, vendor-interaction, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD and project-scheduling software.
  • Technical proficiency with PC software and hardware.
  • Ability to work on-site and participate in on-call troubleshooting support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related advanced engineering discipline.
  • Experience with stable isotopes.
  • Experience in GMP or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Controls programming experience.
  • Experience supporting projects through startup, validation, regulatory, and closeout activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
