Fletcher Building is a New Zealand building materials and construction group headquartered in Penrose, Auckland that manufactures and distributes building products, builds homes and delivers major construction and infrastructure projects. Its roots go back to 1909, when James Fletcher built his first house in Dunedin, and today it is dual listed on the NZX and ASX, employs more than 9,000 people in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific and owns businesses such as Stramit, Laminex, PlaceMakers and Fletcher Living. It hires customer service staff, storepersons and drivers, diesel mechanics, production operators and branch managers, plus site, project and quality engineers.

At Firth, we're proud to help build New Zealand. As one of the country's leading suppliers of ready-mix concrete, we're committed to delivering quality products, exceptional service and innovative solutions that support communities across the country. We're looking for a motivated and hands-on Certified Plant Operator to join our Christchurch team.

About the Role

This is a varied role where you'll be involved in the production, testing, quality assurance and delivery of concrete products, helping ensure every load meets both customer expectations and Firth's high standards. You'll work closely with plant operations, drivers and customers, mixing and batching concrete, carrying out testing procedures, maintaining accurate records and supporting the day-to-day running of the plant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role where no two days are the same, with lots of opportunities to learn and expand your skillset.

What You'll Bring

  • A strong commitment to health, safety and quality
  • Good attention to detail and a focus on accuracy
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and computer skills
  • The ability to learn technical and mechanical processes
  • A proactive and reliable approach to work
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience within manufacturing, construction materials, plant operations, laboratory testing or the concrete industry would be advantageous, but it's not essential.

What's in it for You?

  • Full-time, permanent employment with an industry leader
  • Ongoing training, qualifications and career development opportunities
  • A supportive team environment that values safety and collaboration
  • The opportunity to learn specialised skills within the concrete industry
  • Employee benefits and discounts across the Fletcher Building Group
  • A stable role with opportunities for future career progression
  • The chance to contribute to projects that help build communities across New Zealand

If you're someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in quality and wants to be part of a team that helps keep New Zealand building, we'd love to hear from you.
