The Opportunity

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing quality programs across assigned transmission powerline, utility, and civil construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Senior Construction Managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers, this role ensures construction activities and documentation meet applicable quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

This opportunity is suited to an experienced quality professional with a strong background in construction quality assurance and control, field inspections, and team leadership. You’ll play a key role in maintaining construction quality, resolving non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement from project planning through closeout.

Key Elements of the Role

  • Support the development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, procedures, forms, and other project-specific quality documentation.
  • Implement and monitor project quality requirements throughout construction, ensuring field personnel understand and follow applicable plans, procedures, standards, legislation, and specifications.
  • Conduct field inspections of construction activities, including concrete and civil works, excavation, structure setting, and conductor stringing, to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections with client representatives, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage Quality Coordinators and Quality Inspectors, providing direction and oversight to support consistent quality execution across assigned projects.
  • Conduct quality audits, site reviews, and ongoing compliance monitoring to verify that project quality plans and subcontractor and supplier requirements are being met.
  • Manage non-conformances and quality investigations, including root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, follow-up, and verification of effective resolution.
  • Review, analyze, approve, and maintain quality reports, inspection records, test results, certificates, logs, and other documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
  • Coordinate the collection and completion of field inspection records, as-built documentation, and quality deliverables required for project closeout.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality processes, prevent recurring issues, and improve field execution.

What You’ll Bring

  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification or an equivalent trade credential, or a combination of relevant field experience and post-secondary education.
  • 7-10 years of quality management experience in transmission powerline construction, utilities, or civil construction.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) inspection activities on large-scale construction projects.
  • Substantial experience managing and providing oversight to teams of three or more Quality Coordinators or Quality Inspectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality management practices, inspection processes, project specifications, applicable standards, and quality documentation requirements.
  • Experience managing non-conformances, conducting root-cause analysis, and overseeing corrective and preventive actions through resolution.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, verify construction compliance, and identify and address quality issues in the field.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects or activities and adjust priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain quality requirements clearly and collaborate effectively with field personnel, project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.
