Fortum is a Nordic energy company. Our purpose is to power a world where people, businesses and nature thrive together. Our power generation has one of the lowest specific CO₂-emissions in Europe and our actions are guided by our ambitious environmental targets.

We are looking for a Process Manager, Hydrology and Inflow Forecasting to join Fortum’s Corporate Customers and Markets (CCM) organisation. In this role, you will lead the development of Fortum’s Nordic hydrology and inflow forecasting capabilities, helping improve forecast performance and support effective hydropower planning.

About the role

Fortum operates 124 hydropower plants in Finland and Sweden and is also a co-owner of several other hydropower plants. Reliable inflow forecasts are essential for planning the operation of these assets across different planning horizons.

You will report to the Manager, Operational Business and Process Development and collaborate with physical traders, water regulation specialists, model and system experts, IT, vendors and other process managers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Owning the inflow forecasting process across the Nordic organisation
  • Identifying, prioritising and driving improvements in processes, data, models and tools
  • Monitoring and continuously improving inflow data quality and forecast performance
  • Managing a complex, cross-functional process landscape involving multiple systems, teams and external dependencies
  • Supporting the integration of inflow forecasting with production planning and physical trading processes
  • Working with vendors to define development requirements and follow up on their implementation
  • Representing Fortum in relevant hydrology forums

About you

We are looking for a person with strong analytical skills and experience in process management who can translate data and business needs into practical improvements.

You bring:

  • A relevant university degree
  • Experience in hydropower, hydrology, physical trading, production planning or meteorology
  • Experience in process management and end-to-end process development
  • An understanding of inflow forecasting or hydrological modelling
  • The ability to work effectively with technical experts, business stakeholders and external partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional proficiency in English

Additionally, the following are considered an advantage:

  • Knowledge of data management
  • Experience with HBV modelling
  • Experience in measuring and improving forecast performance
  • Finnish or Swedish language skills

We offer you

At Fortum, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of hydrology and inflow forecasting processes that support the operation of our Nordic hydropower assets.

We believe in a better future and want to be involved in shaping it. Our workplace is a safe place, both physically and mentally. You will grow with professional colleagues, being trusted and free to challenge yourself. We offer comprehensive benefits, flexible working hours and a hybrid work model to support your productivity, development and wellbeing.

We are committed to building diverse teams where everyone feels included and is treated equally.
