Materials Procurement Clerk

POSITION INFO:
An established and growing furniture manufacturing business producing upholstered furniture for retail and contract customers. A hands-on permanent position responsible for sourcing, ordering, and tracking raw materials and consumables to ensure production lines remain fully supplied on time.

Key responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders for raw materials and consumables based on production plans, bills of materials, and stock levels.
• Follow up with suppliers to confirm delivery dates and track open purchase orders.
• Inform the production team immediately of any potential material shortages or delivery delays.
• Check physical deliveries against purchase orders and invoices alongside the stores team, resolving short, damaged, or incorrect deliveries.
• Monitor stock levels and reorder points for all required materials.
• Capture and maintain accurate purchasing records on the ERP/stock system and in Excel.
• Process supplier invoices for approval and assist with month-end stock counts and reconciliations.

• Matric (Grade 12) essential.
• 2+ years of experience in a buying, procurement, or stores clerk role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency and hands-on experience using an ERP or stock control system.
• Own reliable transport.

• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy with numbers and paperwork.
• Well-organised with the ability to juggle multiple orders and strict deadlines.
• Confident communicator capable of following up with suppliers firmly and professionally.
• Collaborative team player who interacts effectively with production, stores, and finance departments.
• Honest, reliable, and able to thrive under pressure.
