Power BI Developer

1. Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports and data visualisations that support business reporting.

The successful candidate will work with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective, user-friendly and reliable Power BI solutions.

2. Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain interactive Power BI reports and dashboards in line with business requirements.

Create data models, relationships, measures and calculated columns to support reporting needs.

Develop, optimise and maintain DAX calculations and expressions.

Use Power Query (M) to prepare, transform and shape data for reporting.

Write SQL queries to retrieve and analyse data from relational databases.

Connect data from relevant sources to meet reporting requirements.

Translate business requirements into meaningful KPIs, reports and visualisations.

Apply appropriate data modelling and visualisation techniques to create clear, intuitive reports.

Enhance report performance, usability and presentation.

Work with business stakeholders and technical teams to review, validate and refine reporting outputs.

Maintain relevant documentation for developed reports, data models and key calculations.

3. Essential Skills and Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and report development.

Proficiency in DAX, including measures, calculated columns and time intelligence.

Practical experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation.

Good understanding of data modelling, relationships, star-schema principles and filter context.

Practical SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

Experience developing interactive dashboards, KPIs, drill-through reports and business visualisations.

Understanding of report validation, performance optimisation and data visualisation best practices.

Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into practical reporting solutions.

Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Data Quality: Experience in data profiling, validation, cleansing, and identifying and resolving data inconsistencies and duplicates.

Data Analysis: Strong SQL skills to analyse, reconcile, and validate data against source systems.

Business Understanding: Ability to understand business data, relationships, and rules, and validate KPIs and reporting outputs.

Data Governance: Knowledge of data integrity, quality standards, and documentation of data issues and corrective actions.

4. Desirable Skills

Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services, Azure SQL or Microsoft Fabric.

Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform data sources.

Experience working with multiple business data sources.

Experience delivering management, operational or executive reporting.

Familiarity with enterprise reporting requirements and associated documentation practices.

5. Expected Deliverables

Functional Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with agreed business requirements.

Data models, measures and calculations appropriate to reporting needs.

Reports with suitable visualisations, validated calculations and appropriate performance.

Relevant documentation covering developed reports and key calculations, with handover support as required.

6. Working Arrangement

Location: Remote.

Availability: Immediate / ASAP.

Engagement: Resource augmentation, working collaboratively with the client’s designated stakeholders and technical teams.

Duration: To be confirmed.

Working hours and time-zone alignment: To be agreed with ADIO.

7. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Power BI Developer with strong technical skills, sound analytical thinking and the ability to turn business reporting requirements into clear, reliable and effective dashboards.

The candidate should be comfortable working with stakeholders, managing development tasks independently and delivering reporting solutions to agreed requirements and timelines.
