As a Sous Chef you will be responsible for planning and managing food preparation in the kitchen. You will assist the Chef to perform a range of duties including planning menus, training new staff, and recording inventory.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs
  • Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner
  • Resolve customer problems and concerns
  • Monitor and record inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies
  • Provide support to kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • Train new kitchen employees to meet restaurant and kitchen standards
  • Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations
  • Manage the kitchen team in the executive chef's absence

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a 5* hotel environment
  • A culinary degree
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities
  • High energy, ability to work under pressure
  • Good understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
