Senior AI Engineer

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior AI Engineer in the Harrisburg Area to support enterprise AI initiatives across a multi-cloud environment. This position provides senior-level technical leadership for the architecture, implementation, administration, governance, and ongoing advancement of enterprise AI platforms, with a focus on Microsoft, AWS, and other emerging AI technologies.

As a Senior AI Engineer you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise AI platforms and AI-enabled solutions across a multi-cloud environment. This role serves as a senior technical subject matter expert responsible for developing AI architecture standards, engineering best practices, governance models, workflow automation, security controls, and integrations that enable business process transformation and operational efficiency. The Senior AI Engineer will work independently with business and technical stakeholders to evaluate emerging AI technologies, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and ensure AI capabilities are secure, governed, reliable, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level engineering expertise across enterprise AI platforms, including Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Foundry, Power Platform, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and other AI and foundation-model technologies.

• Architect, design, configure, optimize, and administer AI services across multiple cloud providers in accordance with industry standards and organizational security requirements.

• Develop architectural standards, governance models, operational processes, development practices, and technical documentation for a multi-vendor AI environment.

• Design, develop, and implement advanced AI-driven workflow automation and business process improvement solutions.

• Develop integrations across cloud AI services, low-code automation platforms, APIs, serverless technologies, and approved third-party applications.

• Design and implement information governance, data protection, classification, sensitivity labeling, retention, and lifecycle management capabilities for AI-enabled environments.

• Design, configure, and enhance security controls across multi-cloud AI workloads, including authentication and access management capabilities.

• Collaborate with internal clients and technical stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable, vendor-appropriate AI solutions.

• Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex AI platform and integration issues.

• Develop advanced scripting and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability.

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, platform roadmaps, capabilities, and risks to identify opportunities and recommend improvements.

• Support the adoption and governance of conversational agents, agent-building platforms, connectors, model endpoints, and other emerging AI capabilities.

• Collaborate with Security, Privacy, Legal, Records Management, and business stakeholders to implement platform-agnostic governance and compliance solutions.

• Provide technical guidance, recommendations, and knowledge sharing to IT professionals and business stakeholders.

• Maintain governance standards, security controls, development practices, lifecycle processes, and adoption recommendations across the enterprise AI portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline and three or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and technical knowledge.

• Advanced experience administering and engineering enterprise AI platforms across multiple providers, including Microsoft, AWS, and other industry AI technologies.

• Strong experience developing AI solutions, workflow automation, and business process improvement solutions.

• Experience implementing information governance and data protection capabilities within enterprise AI platforms.

• Strong knowledge of authentication technologies, security practices, and AI platform administration across cloud environments.

• Advanced scripting and automation experience.

• Demonstrated ability to independently research, evaluate, design, and implement complex technical solutions.

• Ability to provide advanced technical guidance, recommendations, and knowledge sharing to technical professionals.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and leadership.

• Advanced enterprise AI administration and agent or assistant development using platforms such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock Agents, or comparable technologies, including AI governance and security controls.

• Advanced low-code and enterprise automation platform architecture, including environment strategy, connectors, data platforms such as Microsoft Dataverse, governance, and application lifecycle management.

• Experience integrating and operating AI services across multiple cloud environments, including Microsoft Foundry, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or comparable AI infrastructure.

• Experience developing integrations using APIs and cloud technologies such as Microsoft Graph API, Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or comparable serverless and integration services.

• Familiarity with foundation models and model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta Llama, and other major providers, including secure integration of these technologies into enterprise workflows.
