DevOps Engineer Intern

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. is hiring a DevOps Engineer Intern to support development and maintenance of Platform-as-a-Service deployments for defense programs. The intern will automate cloud infrastructure, collaborate with platform engineers on product updates, and gain experience with cloud architectures and deployed platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation to create and maintain several PaaS deployments
• Automatically configure and deploy PaaS infrastructure consisting of identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, deployment and more
• Work closely with our team to plan major updates and enhancements to our products

Skills

• Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology
• Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline
• Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire
• Applicants selected ... must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Candidates should be familiar with and have some experience in several of the following areas:
• Creation and utilization of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services, and/or Azure
• Configuration and utilization of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Deployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef
• Development and utilization of infrastructure and configuration-as-code technologies such as Ansible and Terraform
• Engagement with cloud-native and open source software projects and ecosystems
• Administration and configuration of networking, storage, and compute in Linux systems
• Consistent communication and strong attention to detail
• Strong understanding of software development process, as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
• Creative thinker capable of applying new information quickly to solve challenging problems
• Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success
• Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others
• Standing of a sophomore or higher
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
