Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - Voice Platform

Department & Team: R&D Genesys Cloud & GCV Dev

Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Voice Platform team, building high-performance, network-facing services that power real-time voice communications for Genesys Cloud contact centers worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with solid experience in backend and systems development who wants to grow across C, Java, networking, and Linux in a real-time communications environment.

You will work across systems-level software and cloud backend services, own features end to end, and help deliver reliable, scalable voice capabilities used by enterprise customers at global scale. Prior SIP/VoIP or contact-center experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you enjoy distributed systems, production ownership, and learning a specialized domain hands-on, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

• Design, develop, and deliver network and voice-platform services that support real-time communications with a focus on reliability, quality, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to systems software in C, including work with network-facing and open-source platform components used in real-time communications, with guidance from senior engineers as needed.
• Develop cloud backend services in Java, and contribute across related platform services as needed.
• Build and support services on AWS, with attention to scalability, observability, and production readiness.
• Apply networking and Linux skills to develop, integrate, and troubleshoot communications workloads.
• Learn and apply SIP/VoIP and Genesys voice-platform concepts in day-to-day development with support from the team.
• Investigate and help resolve production issues spanning application, networking, and systems layers.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, QA, security, and operations to turn requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Follow and contribute to engineering practices for design, code quality, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and production operations.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and incident response; share knowledge with the team.
• Continuously improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of the services you own.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Working experience with C and/or systems-oriented software development
• Working experience with Java for backend service development
• Good networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, sockets)
• Solid Linux experience in development or production environments
• Experience building or supporting services in cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Willingness to deepen skills across C, Java, networking, and Linux as part of the role
• Comfort debugging and troubleshooting in production or complex systems
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while aligning with team technical direction
• Ability to learn SIP/VoIP and real-time communications concepts quickly

Desirable Skills:

• Stronger hands-on depth in both C and Java
• Spring Boot, Python, AWS Lambda, and web application development
• Broader AWS experience (ECS/EKS, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB/RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, CloudFormation/CDK/Terraform)
• Experience with SIP, VoIP, or open-source telecom platforms (e.g. OpenSIPS, Kamailio, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH)
• Genesys Cloud CX, contact-center, carrier, CCaaS, UCaaS, or CPaaS experience
