Hargrave Technologies is a leading developer of UAS power electronics solutions, specialising in electronic speed controllers (ESCs) for driving brushless electric motors in the most demanding applications. Designed and manufactured in Australia, we offer NDAA-Compliant options for all products.

This role is for engineers who enjoy solving technical problems, working hands-on with hardware and seeing their work make a real difference to physical products.

Our work supports defence and military applications, where reliability, performance and engineering quality are critical. You'll work with high-performance electronics, motor controllers and power systems built for demanding environments.

As the Electronics Engineer - Sustaining, you'll help maintain and improve our existing product portfolio, ensuring our products continue to perform reliably as manufacturing scales.

The work involves a range of technical challenges, from troubleshooting hardware issues and validating alternative components to making design improvements and developing manufacturing test equipment.

You'll work closely with our engineering and production teams, gaining hands-on exposure to our products and helping ensure they meet the standards our customers expect.

You will be working on:

  • Providing sustaining engineering support for existing products, ensuring quality, performance and reliability.

  • Evaluating, testing and validating alternative electronic components.

  • Troubleshooting electronic hardware issues and implementing improvements.

  • Performing design revisions, including PCB re-layouts, schematic updates and circuit modifications.

  • Maintaining engineering documentation, including schematics, revision records and technical procedures on internal platforms such as Notion.

  • Designing and developing scalable manufacturing test jigs, fixtures and supporting hardware.

  • Implementing engineering changes into production.

  • Improving testing efficiency, accuracy and automation to support production scale-up.

  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.

WHY HARGRAVE

Named after Australian aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave, we are an Australian engineering company designing and manufacturing high-performance electronics, motors and control systems for demanding applications.

Our work is mission-critical, technically challenging and used in environments where reliability matters. Our technology supports drones and military applications, where engineering decisions directly influence real-world performance.

You'll work on engineering with real-world purpose and see your contributions become physical products used in demanding environments.

We're small enough for your voice and work to have a direct impact, while scaling to deliver high-impact projects around the world.

Ownership is central to how we operate. Engineers are trusted to make decisions, challenge existing approaches and take responsibility for their work through to completion.

Less bureaucracy. More ownership, accountability and quality.

As Hargrave grows, you'll have opportunities to shape our products, processes and engineering culture.

The ideal candidate would have experience in:

  • 2-7 years of relevant experience in electronics or hardware engineering.

  • Electronic circuit design, PCB layout and schematic development.

  • Analogue and digital electronics, including hardware troubleshooting.

  • Electronic component evaluation, selection and validation.

  • Proficiency in using oscilloscopes and multimeters for electronic testing and troubleshooting.

  • Designing and developing manufacturing test fixtures, jigs and supporting hardware.

  • Providing technical engineering support for electronics manufacturing and production processes.

Experience with power electronics, motor controllers, ESCs or automated manufacturing testing would be highly regarded.
