The Team
Hitachi Vantara is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to join its Global Analytics & Decision Sciences(GADS)team. Being a part of the Hitachi Vantara Finance Organization, this team connects the dots across multiple business functions to drive growth, enable data-driven decision-making, and solve complex business problems.
In this role, you will collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including and not limited to services, sales, marketing, product management, finance, pricing, and partner operations, as well as key business owners and stakeholders across multiple levels and functions within the organization. You will work with diverse data sources to analyze business problems, translate insights into action, and support executive decision-making.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform computer-aided quantitative and statistical analysis using advanced tools and scientific modeling techniques in support of the organization’s global strategies. The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail and data quality, along with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The Role
Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross functional teams to understand enterprise-wide analytical needs, frame key questions, translate requirements into actionable data and analytics solutions, and align objectives and measurable outcomes.
Provide thought leadership in advanced analytics, including statistical analysis and descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive modeling, to solve complex business challenges and shape analytical strategy.
Synthesize insights across multiple business dimensions, including financial performance, forecasts, products, geography, industries, competitive landscape, and customer segments, to drive data-driven decision-making and strategic direction.
Design and develop scalable data and analytics solutions using programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL), data platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle), cloud technologies (e.g., AWS), and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
Apply advanced statistical and quantitative techniques, including high complexity predictive modeling, to develop data driven solutions and deliver actionable, fact-based insights.
Evaluate and utilize current and emerging technologies to identify trends, enhance analytical capabilities, and deliver innovative solutions and recommendations.
Lead cross functional projects and programs, communicating complex analytical findings through clear and concise presentations to management and executive audiences.
Drive adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) by leading initiatives, establishing best practices, and scaling capabilities across the team.
Mentor and develop junior team members in advanced analytics and data science practices and provide regular updates and insights to management.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Quantitative Economics, Marketing Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field; Master’s degree with relevant professional experience preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical, quantitative, or technical role.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in data engineering, data wrangling, feature engineering, and scalable data processing.
Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, hypothesis testing, dimensionality reduction, predictive modeling, and data mining) to generate actionable business insights.
Experience working with diverse data sources, data platforms, and reporting/analytics tools (e.g., SQL Server, Denodo or similar technologies).
Experience with Cloud platforms, including storage, querying, and advanced analytics (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Strong data visualization and storytelling skills, with proficiency in tools such as Power BI and advanced Excel.
Strong understanding of data modeling principles, ML libraries and best practices.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Demonstrated ability to explore and leverage new data sources, tools, and methodologies to improve analytical capabilities and business outcomes.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Advanced English proficiency.
