Job Summary
- This role is responsible for shaping organization-wide methods, evaluating and integrating new technologies, innovations, and partnerships, aligning with strategic roadmaps and business value. The role evaluates product designs and project activities, while supervising troubleshooting efforts and instigating design enhancements. The role acts as a functional manager within its realm of expertise, establishing strategy, defining functional policies, and steering the overall direction. The role leverages acknowledged domain proficiency, business insight, and experience to influence decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for product engineering across multiple platforms.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced partner relationships for alignment with strategy roadmap and business value.
- Creates plans for integration and update into architecture, while effectively communicating the proposal, and results, and negotiating options at business unit and executive levels.
- Reviews and evaluates product designs and project activities for compliance with manufacturing guidelines and standards.
- Oversees troubleshooting, initiates design improvements and documentation with the R&D, Engineering, and operations teams to achieve continuous improvement.
- Provides tangible feedback based on results to improve product quality and mitigate risk of product failure.
- Contributes innovative ideas, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.
- Acts as a functional manager within area of expertise, developing strategy and setting functional policy and direction.
- Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced manufacturing and development partners, and industry standards groups.
- Guides and mentors staff members on product engineering design, innovation and excellence.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in product design & development, or a related field.
