Iberdrola is a Spanish utility founded in 1901 that became one of the largest renewable energy operators in the world, having decided in the early 2000s to build wind and hydro capacity while most European utilities were still committed to fossil generation. It operates regulated electricity networks in Spain, the United Kingdom through ScottishPower, the United States through Avangrid and Brazil through Neoenergia, alongside a very large renewable generation fleet including offshore wind. Headquartered in Bilbao and listed in Madrid, it now earns the majority of profit from regulated networks rather than from selling power.

Help us create a better future, quicker

As a Risk Analyst, you will play a key role within the Core PMO, supporting the Core Risk Manager in delivering effective risk management across the Core Portfolio.

You'll contribute to a range of activities, including facilitating risk workshops, providing guidance and training on risk registers and reporting on portfolio risk profiles. You will also support the implementation of best-practice risk management standards, driving continuous improvement and helping to strengthen risk management capability across the portfolio.

What you'll be doing

As a Risk Analyst, you'll provide hands-on assistance to Core projects, working closely with project teams to maintain effective risk registers that are material to their critical priorities. You'll assist the Risk Manager in conducting Quantitative Risk Assessments QRAs (QSRA/QCRA), integrating results into planning and cost forecasts to define appropriate risk contingencies and schedules.

Working with Planning and Cost teams to validate risk assessment assumptions and address queries about risk applications within project baselines, you will offer insights into risk registers, explain risk-related data clearly and provide practical advice on risk management processes to project teams at all stages of delivery.

Utilising project risk management dashboards to present key performance indicators, helping teams make informed judgments, you will maintain and leverage the risk library, ensuring projects consider common risks relevant to their scope. You'll also facilitate risk participation in Project Lessons Learned activities, contributing to continuous improvement across the Core PMO.

Working with the Core Risk Manager, you'll help ensure programmes and projects meet external OFGEM requirements, providing assurance and strategic direction across the portfolio. You'll engage with Heads of Programme, Commercial and Contracting coordinators and Director-level stakeholders across SPT (SP Energy Networks Transmission), enabling portfolio risk reporting and insights development.

What you'll bring

You'll have experience assisting a Risk Manager in delivering risk management activities within large capital expenditure projects. A degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management or Project Management, or equivalent qualifications (MoR or PMI-RMP) or equivalent experience, is required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, dashboards and presentations tailored for senior stakeholders and those responsible for key judgments. You'll demonstrate effective stakeholder management capabilities, with the confidence to ask questions, examine assumptions, and facilitate evaluation at all levels of the organisation.

Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and fostering coordination across subject-matter experts is important. You'll have familiarity with how to deliver project-wide risk workshops and meetings, providing practical assistance to the Risk Manager.

Awareness of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QCRA/QSRA) is required, with knowledge of how to integrate results into project planning and evaluation. Familiarity with risk management standards, KPIs and playbooks is valuable, along with awareness of Power BI and how risk data integrates into project-level dashboards and reports.

Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract frameworks is beneficial, particularly in relation to risk and change management processes within large-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects. Awareness of industry-standard tools and systems such as Safran Risk, Nodes & Links, Primavera Risk Analysis, Riskonnect/ARM, or equivalent platforms will be advantageous.

You'll possess effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate conflicting requirements and deliver practical solutions in high-pressure environments. A focus on continuous improvement, with awareness of how to recognise lessons learned and best practices in risk management processes, is essential. The ability to work autonomously and in partnership with Core PMO and project teams is crucial to success in this role.
