ING is a Dutch banking group formed in 1991 by the merger of the postal bank NMB Postbank and the insurer Nationale-Nederlanden, and it was among the first large banks to build a direct, branch-light retail model. It serves retail customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain and several other markets through mobile-first banking, and runs a substantial wholesale bank covering lending, transaction services and financial markets for corporate clients. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext, the group divested its insurance operations after the financial crisis to focus on banking.

Each day, millions of customers in over 40 countries use ING’s banking products and apps. You’ll be making a difference to their lives by shaping the way they bank and empowering them to stay a step ahead in life and business.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance, as our Team Lead AML - Fraud, you’ll assist the Financial Crime Compliance AML Ops (FCCAO) team to meet its local and global regulatory obligations in AML/CTF. The position is responsible for leading the Fraud Reporting team through a period of rapid change and growth, and uplifting current processes and knowledge in order to comply with SLA’s and industry standards. You’ll be leading a team responsible for reporting fraud information to AUSTRAC according to AML/CTF ACT as well as ING’s internal policies and procedures.

Ready to step in and do your thing?

What are you going to do? You will be…

  • Leading a high performing team providing feedback and ongoing training to uplift capabilities
  • Reviewing and approving SMR’s or grounds for dismissals triggered by a fraud or a suspected fraud event.
  • Engaging with relevant stakeholders to uplift the current processes and build relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Implementing KPI’s and productivity markers to effectively measure output and performance.
  • Uplifting current SMR reporting to provide better quality information to AUSTRAC and law enforcement agencies.
  • Delivering on a high degree of analysis and stakeholder engagement, decision making, communication and interpersonal skills. You will be across our AML/CTF obligations, and have experience lodging fraud SMR’s.
  • Taking a proactive stance in promoting and maintaining an effective and sustainable compliance culture throughout the organisation

What are we looking for? Someone who has…

  • Previous leadership experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to successfully negotiate and deal with change
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to proactively identify issues quickly and provide business orientated solutions
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to consider alternative solutions to a problem while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the financial services industry specifically related to AML activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
