About Role

At invent.ai, data scientists don't just build models - they build the AI workflows that build, test and explain them. You'll work on demand forecasting, replenishment, allocation and pricing decisions for global retailers, across millions of SKU × store combinations, using AI agents and our internal library of 40+ data science skills.

We are hiring at Junior Data Scientist, Data Scientist, and Senior Data Scientist levels. The final title, responsibilities, and level of ownership will be determined during the interview process based on experience and demonstrated capability.

What You Will Do

• Onboard new retail customers: profile raw data, map it to our data model and spot gaps - with agents doing the heavy lifting and you owning the judgment.
• Develop and improve forecasting and optimization extensions; test your branch on real data in Databricks and prove it with live-vs-test comparisons.
• Debug production pipelines with agent-assisted log and data investigation; write clear root-cause reports.
• Turn analyses into client-ready decisions: what-if scenarios, dashboards, and explanations a merchandiser can act on.
• Spot repetitive work and turn it into reusable skills and workflows for the whole team.
• Validate every AI output with tests, backtests and domain sense before it reaches a customer.

What We Are Looking For

• Quantitative degree (IE, CS, OR, Math, Statistics) or equivalent experience.
• Solid Python and SQL; PySpark/Databricks is a plus.
• Foundations in statistics, forecasting or operations research (optimization, inventory theory).
• Hands-on use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) in real work - and the habit of verifying what they produce.
• Clear written English; you can write a spec an agent - or a colleague - can execute.

Preferred Qualifications

• You have written a skill, prompt library, MCP server or agent workflow that others use.
• Retail / supply chain domain experience.
• Experience with Python, R, SQL, or GAMS.
• Experience with optimization tools or methods.
• Experience with PySpark, Airflow, or Tableau.
• Experience with software or data solution implementation.
• Experience with project management or leading a small team.
