Architect - International

Job Summary:

As an Architect in the International organization at JioHotstar, you will defi ne and drive the long-term technical vision for transforming JioHotstar Engineering into a global tech operation. You’ll also lead the infrastructure design and that enables the engineering team to seamlessly develop, verify and deploy across geographies.

About the team: JioHotstar's world-record-breaking streaming platform serves audiences across India, the UK, Singapore, Canada, and other international markets.

Our International team builds the technology that enables global expansion, powering region-specifi c experiences while leveraging a common platform architecture. You'll work on subscriber growth platforms, market-specifi c product innovations, and scalable frameworks that support diverse business and content requirements across geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and evolve the long-term engineering vision and roadmap for International and B2B offerings, aligned with JioHotstar’s product and business strategy.
• Enable multi tenancy in certain sub-systems to make our International and B2B offering equally feature rich
• Build tooling and processes to enable all engineering teams to develop, verify and deploy globally for multiple tenants with the same ease as they do for JioHotstar India
• Wear the product hat and being able to think about what and how to build the next set of systems
• Drive operational excellence by improving system reliability, observability, scalability, and effi ciency
• Ensure high standards in architecture, system design, code quality, and engineering best practices
• Simplify complex technical challenges into pragmatic, scalable solutions
• Create and execute technical roadmaps aligned with business and organizational goals
• Understand system dependencies, trade-offs, and limitations to guide strategic decision-making
• Lead the design and delivery of mission-critical systems and platform capabilities
• Infl uence engineering teams through technical leadership, architectural reviews, and hands-on problem-solving
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders, fostering engineering growth and strong technical culture
• Encourage experimentation and rapid prototyping to accelerate innovation and reduce ambiguity Skills & Attributes for Success:
• Proven experience architecting and scaling large-scale distributed systems and data platforms
• Strong ownership mindset with a track record of leading critical initiatives from conception to production
• Excellent business acumen and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical decisions to business impact
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a bias toward simplicity and execution
• Deep expertise in software engineering fundamentals, system design, and performance optimization
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed computing, and modern backend technologies
• Experience building high-throughput, low-latency, and highly available systems
• Ability to mentor and infl uence teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with evolving priorities
• Growth-oriented mindset with a passion for learning, innovation, and engineering excellence Preferred Qualifi cations:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related fi eld
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with signifi cant experience in backend and data engineering systems
• Experience working with large-scale data ecosystems, cloud-native architectures, and modern data infrastructure technologies is preferred
