Engineering Planner

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring detailed engineering and project schedules, ensuring that engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities are effectively coordinated and tracked.

The role will provide exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects across mining, power generation, infrastructure, industrial and EPC/EPCM environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules from engineering through to construction and commissioning.
• Establish project baselines in collaboration with Project Managers, Engineers and other stakeholders.
• Develop project programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Break down project scopes into logical activities, milestones and deliverables.
• Establish activity relationships, dependencies and planning logic.
• Identify and monitor the critical path.
• Track baseline versus actual progress and identify schedule deviations.
• Monitor engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning progress.
• Develop resource-loaded schedules where required.
• Identify potential delays, risks and schedule constraints.
• Provide early warnings regarding activities that may affect project completion dates.
• Develop recovery and mitigation programmes where projects fall behind schedule.
• Collect and validate progress information from engineering teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Provide schedule updates and planning information to Project Managers and senior management.
• Integrate subcontractor and supplier schedules into the overall project programme.
• Coordinate planning information across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support project meetings with schedule analysis, progress updates and key planning information.
• Assist with tender programmes, project execution schedules and baseline development.
• Maintain accurate project controls documentation and planning records.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related technical discipline.
• 3-7 years' experience in engineering, construction, mining, manufacturing, power or infrastructure project planning.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining project schedules.
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Understanding of project planning and project controls principles.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.
• Strong understanding of activity sequencing, dependencies and critical-path analysis.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
