Fibre Infrastructure Technician

Job Description:

- Install, terminate, and maintain fibre optic and structured cabling networks

- Perform fibre testing, certification, and fault diagnosis using specialised equipment

- Complete patching, labelling, cable routing, and infrastructure documentation

- Support equipment installations, rack builds, and connectivity requirements

- Investigate and resolve fibre and copper network faults to minimise downtime

- Conduct infrastructure audits and ensure compliance with quality standards

- Assist with client support activities and technical service requests

- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance work, and testing results

Skills & Experience:

- Minimum 3 years' experience working with fibre optic and structured cabling systems

- Strong understanding of fibre splicing, testing, and troubleshooting techniques

- Experience using OTDRs, fibre certification tools, and related test equipment

- Knowledge of copper cabling standards and network infrastructure practices

- Ability to work independently and within customer-facing environments

- Strong attention to detail and adherence to installation standards

- Good communication and technical reporting skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic infrastructure documentation

Qualification:

- National Diploma, BTech, BEng, or BSc in Electrical, Electronic, or Telecommunications Engineering advantageous

- Relevant fibre optic and cabling certifications highly beneficial
