Tax Specialist
Job Description:
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing tax compliance, providing technical accounting support, and advising on the financial implications of local and international business activities. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will be involved in taxation, statutory reporting, IFRS matters, audits, financial controls, and strategic projects. This role offers significant exposure to cross-border business operations and presents an opportunity to become a trusted advisor within the finance function.
Skills & Experience:
- Manage direct and indirect tax compliance requirements
- Provide guidance on local and international tax matters
- Analyse the tax implications of business activities, structures, and transactions
- Liaise with tax authorities, external advisors, and auditors
- Review tax legislation developments and identify associated risks and opportunities
- Prepare and review annual financial statements
- Manage deferred tax calculations and technical accounting matters
- Provide guidance on IFRS, foreign exchange, and complex accounting transactions
- Support statutory and external audit processes
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting activities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives
- Drive improvements in financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
- Minimum 5 years' relevant post-articles experience
- Strong experience in South African and international taxation
- Advanced technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS
- Experience preparing annual financial statements and working with external auditors
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP system exposure
- Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical business recommendations
Qualification:
- CA(SA) or Finance-related degree with a postgraduate tax qualification
